The Black Box IC406A-R2 is a USB 2.0 extender that transmits USB signals over single-mode fiber optic cable, supporting distances up to 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) – far beyond the 5-meter USB cable limit. The remote unit features four USB 2.0 Type-A ports, each providing up to 1 Amp of power (2.5 Amps total shared) to power connected devices such as webcams, printers, or storage drives without external power adapters. The extender supports all USB device types including control, interrupt, bulk, and isochronous devices at speeds up to 480 Mbps. Plug-and-play operation requires no drivers or software installation, making it compatible with all major operating systems.
