The Black Box LMC213A-SMSC-R2 is a FlexPoint Gigabit Ethernet media converter that converts 1000Base-T copper signals to single-mode fiber for extended network distances. This converter features an SC fiber connector and supports distances up to 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) over single-mode fiber, making it ideal for campus and metropolitan area network extensions. The unit can be used as a standalone converter with a universal AC power supply or mounted in the optional FlexPoint 5-Position Rackmounting Kit (LMC205) or 14-slot Power Chassis (LMC200). The FlexPoint system provides the ultimate in flexibility and reliability for expanding multimedia LANs, allowing you to start with standalone converters and later upgrade to a chassis-based system as your network grows. This converter is ideal for extending network connectivity across campus environments, connecting remote buildings, and providing fiber connectivity where copper cabling distance limitations are a constraint.
